and serve as Dean of Men at Luther College. During this time he drilled with the Naval Reserve Center in LaCrosse, Wl. In 1962 Paul returned to active duty in the US Navy as a Lieutenant in the Chaplain Corp. During his chaplain career he served in sea duty aboard ships in the Caribbean and Mediterranean Seas, a tour with the Third Marine Division in Vietnam as well as three other tours with the US Marines. For two years he served as Staff Chaplain, Iceland Defense Force. Paul retired in 1979 with the rank of Captain. Paul and Justine Lionberger Paul and Justine returned to Decorah area where they reside in Madison Twp., living on an 186 acre Tree Farm with a large garden. Since Navy retirement Paul has served for 5 1/2 years as Pastor of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Kodiak, AL as well as part time at Immanuel Lutheran in Cresco, and numerous interim pastor positions in NE Iowa. Professionally, Justine taught Latin and Greek at Luther College for a semester, taught Latin at Princess Ann High School and Bayview Jr. High, both in Virginia Beach, VA, taught piano and ESL in Alaska and served as organist in a number of places. Paul and Justine have four daughters: Mary, Ann, Ruth, and Martha, all graduated from Luther College. Another daughter, Jane, died in infancy. Mary married Douglas Marske, an insurance adjustor, and lives in Spencer, IA. Mary teaches needlework classes and has two daughters, Katharine Ann and Laura Jane. Ann is an editor at the State of Maryland Archives and is married to Mitchell Baker, a civilian mathematics professor at the Naval Academy at Annapolis, MD. They have two children, Seth Charles and Sarah Signe. Ruth married Jack Booman, a Chiropractor in Spring Grove, MN. They have four children: David, Anna, Elizabeth, and Christa. Martha is a lawyer for Legal Services in Morristown, TN and is married to Paul Mcquade with the US Soil Conservation Service. They live in New Market, TN. Paul and Justine have many retirement hobbies and activities, and belong to many organizations, notably Habitat for Humanity for Paul and guiding at Vesterheim for Justine. Both have traveled extensively abroad, most recently serving an English speaking Christian Fellowship group in Tallinn, Estonia the summer of 1993. Livingood, Gilbert and Dorothy (Kerr)(Dorothy Livingood) Gilbert Livingood, son of Cecil and Amanda (Beisker) Livingood, was born at French Creek, Allamakee Co. He attended school in rural schools and graduated from Postville High School in 1946. After graduation, Gilbert joined the U.S. Navy for two years. When he was discharged from the Navy, he came home to Bloomfield Twp. to farm with his parents. Gilbert married Dorothy Kerr 26 Jun 1949, the daughter of Kenneth and Joyce (Turner) Kerr. She was born on Dale Delight Farm in Fayette Co. After graduation from Postville High School in 1946, Dorothy attended college at Dubuque University for 1 year, and the University of Iowa for 2 years. After their marriage they moved on to the home farm in Bloomfield Twp. They are the parents of 7 children. Jean married Marvin Wetson 7 Jun 1969. They have 2 sons: Aaron and Ryan. Larry, married Cindy Clandsen. They have 2 children: Travis and Amy. Leslie is a secretary for the Department of State, Washington D.C. Francis married Janet Donlon 27 May 1978. They have 3 sons: Levi, Craig and Andy. Wayne married Lisa Hurcomb 28 Jun 1987. They have 3 children: Isaac, Lydia, and Gilbert. Beverly (b. 8 Feb 1957) married Daryl Anderson 3 Apr 1976. They have 2 children: Amanda Christine and Gregory. Kelly married Patricia Schwab. They have 2 children: Danielle and Evan. Gilbert and Dorothy farmed in the Castalia/Postville area for many years. Two of their sons have now taken over the farming and Dorothy and Gilbert have retired since 1987. They enjoy a new home in Bloomfield Twp. in the summer and enjoy traveling south in their R.V. home in the winter months. They are members of the Community Presbyterian Church in Postville. Lomen, Erlin R. and Ellen (Jensen) and Lorraine (Guernsey)(Erlin R. Lomen) Erlin R. Lomen was born 12 Aug 1902 in Springfield Twp to Ole 0. and Marie Nash Lomen. He had a brother, Oscar M. and a sister, Eleanor. Erlin graduated from Decorah High School and Iowa State University (1927). After a year working at Stark Bros. Nursery in Louisiana, MO, he returned to the family farm. He farmed for 25 years and since has rented to neighbors. His brother Oscar is still living in the Lomen farm home.
